About Sri Sri Ravi Shankar:

His Holiness Sri Sri Ravi Shankar is globally renowned and respected humanitarian leader, spiritual teacher and ambassador of peace .  His vision of a stress-free, violence-free society has united millions of people the world over through service projects and the courses of The Art of Living.

Sri Sri’s programs have provided assistance to people from a wide range of backgrounds – victims of natural disasters, survivors of terror attacks and war, children from marginalized populations and communities in conflict, among others.

As a spiritual teacher, His unique way of delivering the ancient wisdom of meditation and yoga in a manner that resonates with the mindset of people today, has encouraged several youths to adopt a stress-free lifestyle devoid of addictions and intoxicants of any kind and take up service projects as a means of expressing their inner joy.

As an ambassador of peace, He plays a key role in conflict resolution and spreads his vision of non-violence at public forums and gatherings world-wide. Regarded as a neutral figure with a sole agenda of peace, he represents hope to people in conflict. He has received particular credit for bringing opposing parties to the negotiating table in Iraq, the Ivory Coast, Kashmir and Bihar.

Numerous honors have been bestowed upon Sri Sri, including the highest civilian awards of Colombia, Mongolia and Paraguay. He is also the recipient of the Padma Vibhushan, India’s second highest civilian award and has also been conferred with 15 honorary doctorates from around the world.

Interactions with Him are full of enthusiasm, wit, laughter, profound peace and deep meaning.  And the address will certainly help the youth better understand how to keep the balance between inner peace and outer dynamism.

Today, The Art of Living movement has spread peace across communities through diverse humanitarian projects, including conflict resolution, disaster relief, sustainable rural development, empowerment of women, prisoner rehabilitation, education for all, and environmental sustainability.

The youth wing of the organisation is particularly engaged in providing a platform to the young people to express themselves in a positive manner and discover their potential through the power of yoga, meditation and other life-altering techniques.  Helping them overcome the barriers of addictions, stress, depression and so on, these young volunteers are actively involved in taking up various social causes.

About Jeevan Sarita:

If there’s one thing the severe drought crisis faced in so many parts of the country in recent times has taught us, it is the importance of water conservation and river rejuvenation.  Rapid pace of urbanization has led to much unplanned expansion in several areas. Coupled with problems like the sand mafia and deforestation, our generation today is faced with ugly challenges of famer suicide, water shortage and other related concerns.  It is therefore also our responsibility to do whatever is necessary to undo the present situation.

Recognizing this dire need of the hour, The Art of Living has launched river rejuvenation projects in several parts of the country via its team of enthusiastic volunteers. Since its commencement in 2013, 21 rivers have been rejuvenated in Maharashtra, 3 in Karnataka and 1 in Tamil Nadu.

Within Pune, the Jeevan Sarita project of the organization aims to revive the rivers, Mula, Mutha, Pavana and Ramnadi.  This includes, purification of the rivers, maintaining cleanliness along the banks apart from other citizen driven exercises.  The project has already taken off with volunteers engaging with other NGOs in the city to bring the idea of river rejuvenation to as many people as possible.
