What is Chiguru
Imagine 4000 students of which some are painting their vision for our nation, some are dancing to a folk song, some are talking about Kalam vigorously and 500 volunteers organising the event with the best coordination possible. Breath-taking! isn't it?
Youth For Seva (YFS), Hyderabad conducts Chiguru every year to provide a platform for children from Govt. schools, Govt. Welfare Hostels, aided schools, Orphanages, differently-abled organisations and Slums to showcase their cultural and literary talents. As part of Chiguru, YFS conducts 18 competitions - singing, elocution, dance, street play, drawing etc. - for children of age group 9-15 under different categories. In 2013, 1200 children participated whereas in 2014, the number will be 4000.
YFS volunteers train the children for about 7 weekends from Nov-Feb as a result of which the students who stand out are the best and are rewarded appropriately. YFS provides food, transport and other resources needed for children free of cost. This event will see about 500 volunteers working in organising the event - training students, arranging logistics, raising funds etc.
