West Coast Explorer : Jog Falls - Honnavar - Gokarna
OVERVIEW : If you like to explore offbeat trails and see the beauty of nature along the coast and hills during the rains this one is for you. We go on an offbeat journey to explore the Coast and Hills of the North West Karnataka with its quaint villages, beautiful beaches and majestic waterfalls made more scenic and green with the onset of the monsoons. We visit Jog Falls ( the second highest waterfalls in India at 830 feet ), Honnavar ( with its unexplored beaches, waterfalls and the Sharavati River ) and the Gokarna ( for the quite temple town atmosphere and beautiful beaches ). Last but not the least we get to taste some authentic coastal cuisine.
Jog Falls : Jog Falls is created by the Sharavathi River falling from a height of 253 m (830 ft), making it the second-highest plunge waterfall in India. The water falls down the rocky bed in four distinct falls and the volume of water is most in the monsoons and the beauty of the falls is also best experienced during the rains.
Honnavar : Honnavar is a small town on the north coast of karnataka where the Sharavati River flows into the Sea. Close to town are some beautiful unexplored beaches and a waterfall.
Gokarna : Gokarna ( meaning cows ear ) is a small town in the Uttara Kannada district of Karnataka. Apart from being a quiet little temple town with a nice calm feel to it, it also has some of the best beach stretches on the Karnataka Coast. One could take nice walks and hikes along the beaches of across the hillocks that run parallel to the beaches.
