Verba Maximus '14 Literary Events in Hyderabad :
It is important to keep in mind that the spirit and body of any fest lie in the competitions. We strive to organize events that not only draw the audience in, but are unique. For Verba Maximus ’14, we have brought back some of the classics, while introducing a few fresh contests that required months of preparation.
Hilarious and brutal, this event is anything but slow. You’ll have to shoot down opponents, blab as much as you can (before you go down too) and keep an eye on the clock, all whilst jumping through the mod’s hoops.
It is said that an issue is better left undecided with a good debate, than decided without one. You might think you’re good, but this isn’t your average dinner table discussion. Welcome to the big stage, where spotlights, brickbats and uncertainty await you.
Group Discussion –
The timeless G.D., such a vintage event, yet far from repetitive. A Group Discussion brings to the forefront who you really are. Can you strike the right balance between respecting other’s opinions and asserting yourself?
From the caves of the Misty Mountains to the passageways of Diagon Alley, anything’s fair game. Finally a quiz that’ll test your knowledge of the best books through time.
Can any literary fest be complete without a Spell Bee? Everyone knows the importance of spelling, and being in the generation where people “typ lyk dis”, we need this more than ever.
Sherlocked is an investigative journalism event which focuses on both its components. It's not simply about writing the best articles or solving the mystery: it's about depicting the scenario in an unbiased manner. With multiple suspects, various evidence, conflicting reports, competing journalists and live action press conferences, can you unravel the web of lies?
Picture Perspective –
Breathe in the scenes shown to you. Feel the visual explosions excite your senses, and follow the tingling as it travels down your arm into your fingertips. Unleash your pen on paper, and let the words do the rest.
Words of a Feather-
So the organizer shoots words at you, every five minutes, one word at a time. Spin your own yarn, build up a story (that makes sense, of course) connecting these words. Use the words more than once in your story, and there you'll see your chances of winning, fly by like a feather.
It's time to play pretend, dear folks. And the more you let yourself go, the more the odds are in your favor.
The event goes like this: Every participant is given a torn sheet of paper from a diary. Based on the diary entry and a timeline provided, the participant is supposed to weave a story from the perspective of the person from the diary entry.
Here's the news: Everybody can try it. Just bring your play-pretend shoes (or even a cape) along!
