About The Institution of Engineers (India) IEI

The Institution of Engineers (India) (IEI) is the national organization for engineers in India. About Avian Aerospace

Avian was started in August 2010 by a group of aviation passionate aeronautical engineers with the motto of "Inspiration through Innovation" and aim to achieve the heights of quality and quantity in aviation and green technology. Avian workshop is the training arm of Avian Aerospace. It was started with a sole motto of creating awareness amongst the students about the booming UAV industry. The workshops are conducted in a unique way in which the students learn about the basics of UAV design, components, sub-systems, avionics through hands on sessions by building radio controlled airplanes which are very similar in operational characteristics of a real UAV. The team emphasizes in conducting these programs as UAV workshop teaching the students about the concepts of UAV, its market etc.., rather than just being an Aeromodelling workshop.

About Ornithopter workshop

Almost all the earlier attempts in achieving the first manned flights were carried out in vehicles resembling the flight of bird. Even the sketches by Leonardo Da Vinci indicate that he too tried to achieve bird’s flight in the same lines. This workshop introduces the students to the ideas behind flapping flight. The workshop is designed to teach the students about the principles of flight, mechanism behind achieving the flapping flight etc.., Flapping wing vehicles have become a very serious research topic primarily because of its potential military and civilian applications. This workshop is one of the most successful one conducted by us. The workshop contents are designed with help from Mr. Nathan Chronister, USA of Ornithopter Zone, a world renowned Ornithopter Expert.
