Raigad Fort, the capital of Shivaji's Empire, is situated on top of a hill and was supposedly impregnable to enemies of the Maratha empire. Now there is a ropeway built which takes you to the top but we plan on hiking it to the fort. The hike is easy-moderate and normally takes a couple of hours to climb and about the same time to climb down. For those of us who would rather be carried up than walk, there is an option to use the ropeway which goes straight to the top. The plan is to leave from Sion circle at 7am. We'll stop at FoodMall on the Expressway for breakfast. At the FoodMall there are various choices of cuisines like North Indian, South Indian, Maharashtrian and many more. We'll reach the base of mountain on which the fort is at around 10:30. If we start hiking at around 10:30, we should reach the top comfortably by lunch time. We can spend a few hours exploring the fort and then maybe start climbing back by 3pm. Well be back to the base of the mountain by 5pm and we should reach Sion circle by 7:30 pm depending on traffic. Fee includes transportation, lunch box and tour guide.
