About The Event

In the local language of Spiti, 'Ka' means snow and 'Namo' means lady. Kanamo, therefore, simply translates to the white lady, the one who witnesses the daily life of a remote Spitian village called Kibber, from where the trek starts.

This is a really unique trek because it involves a non technical ascent to the summit of Mt. Kanamo (5974 m above sea level) and gives one a taste of mountaineering without the need for special training in the art.

Another great attraction is the surrounding Kibber plateau, teeming with wildlife. Blue sheep and Himalayan Ibex are commonly spotted in this region. Good fortune combined with a sharp eye helps in spotting Tibetan wolves and the ever elusive Snow leopard.

This trek is the best way to discover and appreciate the unique beauty of the Spiti Valley. Starting at 13,000 ft, the beginning of this trek is at a height where a lot of challenging trails in other areas end. That is why we call it higher than high.
