About The Event

‘SYNERGY’, the Eastern India Regional Conference of Toastmasters International including the Humorous Speech and Evaluation Contest will be held at The Mark Hotel, Kolkata on Sunday, 30 October 2011. These contests are conducted strictly according to the rulebook issued by Toastmasters International to promote bonding and encourage competitive growth among members.

In all, 16 contestants from the region drawn from several community clubs (Kolkata Toastmasters Club, Salt Lake Toastmasters Club & City of Joy Toastmasters Club), campus clubs (ISM Energized (Dhanbad) Toastmasters Club) and corporate clubs (IBM Blue Voice Toastmasters Club, TCS Maitree Kolkata Toastmasters Club, PWC Kolkata Toastmasters Club, Infosys Bhubaneswar Toastmasters Club & Lexmark Toastmasters Club) will be battling for top honours on that day. The contestants have already won the club and local contests and represent the best speakers and evaluators of the region. The winner of this contest will represent the Eastern region at the National contest to be held in Pune on November 20, 2011.

Toastmasters International is a not-for-profit organisation headquartered in Santa Ana, USA with more than 260,000 members across the world. Members are part of clubs (currently more than 13,000 spread over 106 countries) where they work through the Leadership and Communication programmes, giving speeches and playing leadership roles, that build to a series of milestones, the highest of which is becoming a ‘Distinguished Toastmaster’. There are currently 8 Toastmaster clubs in Kolkata and more than 150 in India. Other clubs in the region are at Burdwan, Dhanbad, Bhubaneswar and at IIT Kharagpur.

SYNERGY will be graced by the National District Governor Dr Punita G Singh, National Lieutenant Governor (Education & Training) Toastmaster Vinay Jain and National Lieutenant Governor (Marketing) Toastmaster Prasad Sovani. Apart from the contest, SYNERGY will also have educational workshops and enjoyable games on communication and leadership.
