Perfection is characterised by self-sufficiency, to remain independent of the world. Amongst all living beings humans alone have the ability to be totally self-sufficient. One achieves self-sufficiency by reducing desires through the spiritual practices of karma action, bhakti devotion and gnana knowledge. When the last trace of desire is eliminated, one attains perfection, absolute liberation from the world.
