Dhoomimal City Gallery presents ‘The Divine’ A solo exhibition of paintings by Anand Panchal.
Anand Panchal was born in 1973 in Latur (M.S). He did his G.D art (drawing and painting) at the Abhinav Kala Mahavidyalaya, Pune in 1997 and obtained a diploma, in art education from Sir J.J. School of art, Mumbai in 1998. AnandPanchal’s works exude a spiritual tranquillity that immediately strikes a chord with the viewer. His works are a riot of colours, with blues and reds dominating.
His works are inspired by the village and the temple environs. The young girls and boys depicted in the oeuvres d’art are the ones that are an intricate part of the temple periphery. Born into the family of the ‘pandits’ and the temple care takers, these children imbibe the various nuances of the holy surroundings and adapt to them completely.
He embraces a highly narrative style, unfolding stories of rural life through his paintings. ‘My perspective is of a villager’, says Panchal. In his paintings, the upper portion of the canvas is often devoted to iconic images that indicate the dreams of the fore grounded figure. Of his influences, Panchal names Rembrandt, Renoir, and Gauguin. The artist has held several solo shows and participated in several exhibitions and art camps in India and abroad. His works can be found in various private collections in India and abroad. The artist lives and works in Mumbai.
