Chopsticks, the fine dining Oriental Restaurant at the Kwality Group’s Asiad Village Restaurant Complex, celebrates the ‘Thai Street Food’ Festival.
This exotic festival seeks to seduce your taste buds with an unusual collection of classic and lesser known dishes inspired by the great food capitals of South-East Asia and set in a painstakingly created authentic street food market environment. The festival, which will be held from 7thto 16th September, will witness the restaurant donning the look of a mini Bangkok market with live displays of Satays, Salads, Soups, Thai Curries, Grills and Desserts to choose from.
Embark on your street side wandering with a traditional fresh and zesty Som Tam Salad or the common man’s favourite spicy minced chicken Larb Kai. Follow this up with a bespoke rendering of the classic Tom Khaa, a delicate coconut milk based Thai soup served with a choice of prawns, chicken and vegetables. After your soup, take a walk down to the Satay Bazaar, and pick out a skewer of your favourite grilled meat or seafood just like you would in your favourite street side stall in Penang. Moving to more substantial fare, now take a journey to the Chao Praya river in Bangkok and wait to be served up a favourite of Royal Thai cuisine the Pla Kae, the golden crusted crispy pompfret that rarely finds its way outside the secret kitchen of the royal palace. Follow this up with a taste of Koon Yang, our chef’s play on char-grilled prawns, or take a bite of steamed Basa fish wrapped in banana leaves and marinated in Thai herbs if you are in a lighter mood.
No Asian Meal is complete without Curry! Take your pick from your favourite red or green, or venture out on to the adventurous path with a freshly grounded Massaman or a spicy Penang curry, paired with sticky garlic rice or authentic Phuket crab fried rice. If you still have room left, and we hope you do, there is always happiness on the other side of fried coconut ice cream.
So, gear up to experience the hustle and bustle of Asia’s lively street markets while you sit back and enjoy the culinary treasures of the Orient.
