Talk - Reforming Indian Higher Education and the Importance of Global Collaborations. Speaker: Prof. Fazal Rizvi, Professor of Global Studies in Education, University of Melbourne; and Emeritus Professor, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. His recent books include Youth Moves: Identities and Education in a Global Era (Routledge, 2007); Globalization and the Study of Education (Wiley 2009); and Globalizing Educational Policy (Routledge 2010).
In this lecture, Prof. Rizvi will provide an account of historical and contemporary patterns of collaborations between Indian universities and higher educational systems abroad; and suggest ways in which these collaborations can contribute to reforms that Indian higher education is currently pursuing. He will argue that these reforms will have a greater chance of success if their importance is understood within the emerging architecture of global higher learning.
