Summer Baking Classes for Kids by Eighth
Taught by Anurita Ghoshal (trained at Le Cordon Blue Paris), the Summer Chefs Program at Eighth is a unique opportunity for our Lil Chefs (5-8 yrs) & Junior Chefs (9+ yrs) who are interested in mastering the basics of baking.
Period: May and June

Lil Chefs program(5-8 yrs)
2 day class/ week
Total Amount: Rs. 2750
The 2 Day Lil Chefs program is designed to bring out the creativity of the kids and teach them the basic techniques of baking.
Day 1
The day will start with a brief introduction on-
Kitchen Safety
Kitchen hygiene
Understanding baking baking terminology and baking tools
Creative Cookies
Three kinds of innovative cookies will be demonstrated and the kids will creatively decorate their own.
- Chocolate Cookies with chocolate cream centre: Children will be taught how to make a classic chocolate cookie and the technique of filling the chocolate inside to have the most mouth watering chocolate centre cookie.
- Cookie Cups with fillings: An entire new cookie style will be taught here where cookie cups will be created with the cookie dough and the kids will pipe various fillings in the same.
- Brookies – Brownie and a cookie! A soft chewy cookie with a texture like that of a brownie. A huge hit with kids!
Day 2
Creative Cup Cakes
Children will learn how bake a basic cupcake from scratch. They will decorate the cup using different methods.
- Traditional butter cream: Here we learn "The perfect Butter cream' with natural organic colours and fantastic flavours and the technique of piping the same.
Icing /glaze: Here we learn a simple glaze and the technique of pouring the same over the cupcakes. Its a riot of natural colours and toppings.
Chocolate ganache: A classic chocolate ganache will be taught.
Mini Fruit Pies
Making the tart dough
Lining a mini tart
Making a fruit filling
Kids will learn to prepare all of the above, The last day the kids will be divided in groups and work together to present their recipes to each other.
The class will end with a quiz on the topics covered. Certificates will be handed out to each participant. Children will take away goodie bags and the recipe booklets.
Junior Chefs Program(9+ yrs)
3 day class/ week
Total Amount: Rs. 3750
The 3 day class will take them through an international journey of bakes across continents .
Day 1

A short introduction to the continents and the food culture across them
Bakes from Asia– Baked Mango Yogurt
A baked version of a classical Indian dessert from the West of bengal. Paired with a Mango its makes a delicious dessert.
Bakes from North America- Classic Chocolate Chip Cookie
Traditional and decadent with 3 kinds of chocolate to make it the best chocolate cookie ever!
Day 2
Bakes from Africa- Classic Milk Tart
Melktert, as its called in Afrikaans is a Classic South African dessert consisting of a sweet pastry crust containing a creamy filling . Children learn how to make the tart dough and the delicious filling .
Bakes from South America- Chocolate Truffles of Brazil
Brigadier as these truffles are called, is a fudgy chocolate truffle served at every birthday party in Brazil. The kids will handmade these in the class.
Bakes from Europe- French pastry – Madeleines
A classic french tea cake- its unique shell shape and size makes it a real favourite with all ages.
Day 3
Bakes from Australia- Anzac cookies
An Anzac biscuit is a sweet, hard biscuit, popular in Australia and New Zealand, Anzac stands for Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) established in World War I. These biscuits were sent by wives to soldiers abroad because the ingredients do not spoil easily and the biscuits kept well during naval transportation!
Bakes from Antartica- Ice-cream popsicles
Popsicles with a unique twist on the flavours ! The best way to beat the summer dessert !
A project presentation to be done by the kids on the last day. They will be briefed about it on Day 1 and presentation on Day 3.
Certificates will be awarded to all participants. Children will take away goodie bags and the recipe booklets.
