Join us at Jxtapose on the 29th of September between 3 PM and 6 PM for a fun String art workshop where we will help you create the most beautiful pieces for your favorite space with some nails, colorful strings and threads, and lots of love.
String art, or pin and thread art, is an arrangement of colored threads strung between points to form patterns. It has its origins in the 'curve stitch' activities invented by Mary Boole at the end of the 19th century - to make the idea of calculus more accessible to children. Soon it became popular among artists when they started using it to create increasingly complex figures.
In this workshop, we will guide you to make interesting compositions on a 6" x 6" wooden piece using string art. We will also take you through its applications on various materials, to experiment with the technique.
