About The Event

British Council invites all children in the 7 to 12 years age group for a Storytelling Performance by one of the leading storytellers from the UK, Emily Parrish.

On Tuesday 3rd February 2015 at 6:30 pm

(Parents/guardians are requested to bring the children by 6 pm. The duration of the programme is 60 to 70 minutes)

This performance will aim to showcase UK creativity in the area of storytelling to the young learners and introduce them to a new art form. The creative exploration of the stories will stimulate their creativity  and develop their listening, comprehension and storytelling skills.

Emily Hennessey (previously Emily Parrish) is a performance  storyteller dedicated to exploring the ancient art of storytelling as oral tradition within a contemporary context, playful, imaginative and daring to take risks, Emily tells myths, legends, epics, folktales, fairy tales and fables from around the world. Emily's work is described as 'intelligently composed and beautifully performed', while her storytelling style is said to be warm, captivating, bold and witty, delighting audiences of all ages.

Emily discovered the art of performance storytelling at the University of Kent where she met storyteller, Vayu Naidu. Emily graduated in 2005 with a 1st class Master of Drama degree. She went on to complete a storytelling apprenticeship and work as Education Officer for Vayu Naidu Company.
