Located in the Hemis national park, Stok Kangri is the highest mountain peak in the Stok range of the Himalayas in Ladakh. Despite its altitude, Stok Kangri is a popular trekking peak and is often climbed as an initial non-technical foray into high altitude mountaineering.

ITINERARY:
Day 01:
Meeting Point: Leh Airport- Spend a day in Leh to acclimatize to the weather and altitude.
You can reach Leh either via flight or by road (Nearest airport- Leh)
ExploreLeh at your leisure
Stay will be provided by us. (Hotels / Guesthouse) 

Day 02:
ACCLIMATIZATION CONTINUES
Explore tourist places in Leh
You would witness the rich culture of Ladhaki people through visits to monasteries and ancient temples
Enjoy the local cuisine
Leh is the centre point of Ladakh and also a major town from where all expeditions begin. 

Day 03: 
LEH to CHANG MA (13087 ft) Via Stok Village (5 hrs)
The drive to the Stok village is an adventurous one with sight of lush green trees. 
Trek from Stok village to Chang Ma
Settle in camps after a small acclimatization walk

Day 04:
CHANG MA TO BASECAMP (16,300 ft- 7hrs)

Day 05:
RESTING + ACCLIMATIZATION DAY at Base Camp
It is essential to prepare yourself for the summit day. You will understand the possibilities and challenges involved. 
You will be briefed about the technical equipments. 
Basic training would on usage of equipment such as Ice Axe, Crampons, Rope etc. 
Techniques like ascending & descending in snow, self arrest using an ice axe will be covered in the training session. 
Today we go to bed early as we start the summit attempt at mid of night.

Day 06:
SUMMIT STOK KANGRI (6153 meters) AND BACK TO BASECAMP (7 - 8 hrs)
Wake up call would be at 12:30 AM. 
Get ready for summit attempt. Technical gear will be distributed. 
Start walking at 2:00 AM. The route goes through glaciers and then comes to steep slopes to the summit ridge. This is a long climb. It would take somewhere between 9 to 10 hours. 
The summit offers 360 degree view of the region. The wide view and open surroundings gives a regal feeling. Towards the north, you see the Karakoram range. The Saser Kangri dominates the sky in the north along with Karakoram and the Zanskar ranges in the south. 
Descend to the base camp. 
Overnight stay in camps.

Day 07: 
BASECAMP TO LEH (6 hrs)
With a 6000M peak up your sleeves, today’s trek will be a joyous experience. We start early for Stok Village. Return trek can be a little difficult & be extra careful on downhill slopes. 
From Stok village we start the road drive for Leh. The drive back can be a nostalgic experience as you recount the precious experiences from your days on the expedition. 
We will reach Leh by evening. Check into Guest House/Hotel.
Stay at Hotel/Guest house and next day you can leave for your respective home cities 

You may choose to stay a bit longer to explore Leh and nearby places (on personal expenses)

Fitness benchmark:

Jog/Run for 5 Kms in 25-30 mins Or Walk continuously for 10 Kms (with 3-4 small breaks) on plain terrain (slight incline is better)
Hold your breath for 40 seconds and3 sets of Climbing 30 – 40 steps in one stretch 
Push Ups – 10 andLunges & Squats – 15 X 2 sets
If you are meeting these benchmarks, please use the preparation schedule to improve your fitness till you achieve the above benchmarks.
