Overview
About the destination: Also known as Kalavara Durga, Skandagiri is located around 70km from Bangalore and can be reached within 2 hours of drive from the city. Offering panoramic views of the night sky and the sunrise, this 8km trek comprises of ascending and descending through rugged terrains and can be completed within 4-5 hours of ascending and descending.
About the departure: Starting late night from Bangalore; around 10pm, reach the base of Skandagiri by midnight. Following your arrival, attend the briefing session by the experts and embark on the night trek.
Description: Till the Papagni Temple, the climb offers moderate challenges to the trekkers. Hereafter, it gets considerably challenging as the walls of the ancient temple offers various challenges to the trekkers.Overcoming these challenges, reach to the peak by 2am. Post this, relax around a pleasant bonfire that also will keep you warm and laze within the individually provided sleeping bags. With the advent of the morning; at around 5am, witness the panoramic views of the sunrise and start descending down the hill.
Upon arrival at the base, have breakfast in Chikkaballapur and continue with the return journey towards Bangalore.
