At 6 Yards Plus, we passionately believe in the versatility and elegance of the saree. Born out of our own love for sarees and handlooms, and our constant ‘justjoo’ for interesting things to complement the saree, we are the go to place for all things 6 Yards and beyond! Our mission is simple- to make sarees fun and interesting to own and drape and to take the hassle out of putting together a saree look. It is to help you chart your own saree journey- discover what you like, to try out weaves and drapes and find a comfort zone and maybe even try to go beyond that so that they can truly experience the power and elegance of the saree over conversations, consultations and experience.
Saree experiences including brown bag lunches, coffee mornings, trails, get togethers, workshops and seminars are all an effort to start the saree conversation and then see where it leads from there.

#sixyardsplus seminar and workshop series is designed for the Indian woman of today. The modern woman is not shy of pursuing a career and being a doting mother. Her clothes are functional yet chic, and at times traditional yet contemporary.
Nikaytaa, a Sari researcher from Pune, taps into the ancient knowledge of the versatile Sari to create customized garments that exude power, individuality, and confidence. The participants will learn how to drape a Sari for five different occasions. Whether it be boardroom dressing, an active lifestyle or an evening out with colleagues and friends; we’ve got you covered.
The common vision of SixYardsPlus and Nikaytaa is to remove the hassle out of the Sari experience and the sessions here will be a great introduction to anyone who is rooted in the balanced mix of traditional knowledge and modern lifestyle. This is the first event of its kind in Hyderabad and is aimed to kickstart the Sari movement like never before.

The unstitched Sari can be fundamentally draped into any garment of choice using just knots and pleats. It can become a pair of pants like the dancers of Odisha or a pair of shorts like the Goan fisherwomen. Or one could take inspiration from the farmlands of West Bengal and wear the Sari as a short gown.
The seminar reflects on the science, design, and patrons of the drapes as well as the handloom Sari. Spread over an hour, the presentation throws light on the glorious past, highlights the current relevance, and seeks to imagine the future of the Sari. The intense and interactive session will also include conversations on colonization, fluid gender, minimalism and sustainability whose narratives are intrinsically interwoven with the Sari. The session is followed by live-draping where we invite a few volunteers from the audience and drape them allowing for the audience to visualize and engage the Sari.

The seminar is an overview of the evolution of the saree draping culture and includes a demonstration. However, if you would like a more exclusive and in-depth experience, the intensive workshop is for you. The hands-on workshop will delve into the gender-neutral and gender-fluid Sari as a garment of choice for men, women and people. The audience will learn how to harness the fluidity of the Sari to express themselves and their individuality. Together, we will hack the Sari to extend its capabilities beyond the popular NiVi and Gujarati drapes to realize the power and energy of the Sari. Participants need to wear a pair of tights or a short skirt paired with a short top for the workshop. Sarees will be provided for participants during the workshop. Fee includes cost of photography, a small giveaway.
