About The Event


Silk Route is an ancient trade route which connected Lhasa in Tibet via the Jelep La Pass to India, a remote but glamorous section which would make you wanting to visit again and again. We take you on a jeep safari in this mesmerizing trip which is not frequented by tourists. It requires a permit to enter majority of the places as this area borders India and Tibet (China) and controlled by the Indian Army.


This route has got some breathtaking views of Mt Kanchandzonga and its range, snow strewn zigzag roads, endless terraced paddy fields,mind-blowing historical monasteries and home to a rich variety of flora and fauna.


The tiny state of Sikkim is a paradise to the adventure seekers and nature lovers.


Join us in this trip through Old Silk Route to the mystic wonderland of East Sikkim - this well kept secret in the lap of the Himalayas will leave you dumbfounded.

Day 01 - Bagdogra Airport (IXB) / New Jalpaiguri (NJP) Railway Station to Rishap.
Day 02 - Sillerygaon - Damsang Fort, Ramitey View Point
Day 03 - Aritar/Mankhim - Lampokhri lake, Dak Bungalow, Changey Falls, Aritar Monastery.
Day 04 - Dzuluk - enroute visit Lingtham, Kuekhola WaterFalls and Padamchen.
Day 05 - Gnathang - Thambi View Point, Zig Zag Roads, Ganek, Lungthung & Laxmi Chowk.
Day 06 - Gnathang - Tukla Valley, Kalapokhri, Old Baba Mandir, Golf Course, Ice Hockey field, Jelep-La Pass and Elephant Lake at Kupup.
Day 07 - Gangtok - enroute visit Tsomgo Lake & New Baba Mandir.
Day 08 - Gangtok local sightseeing.
Day 09 - Bid adieu. Transfer to airport/railway station.

Terms & Conditions



a) All meals and evening tea / coffee except breakfast on 1st day and lunch & dinner on the 9th day.

b) Accommodation for 8 nights / 9 days on double sharing basis in home stays / guest houses.

c) All transfers / sightseeing trips by SUV's.

d) Permit charges, Toll charges & Entry Fees

f) All applicable taxes & service charges

e) Additional cost arising due to mishaps, political unrest, natural calamities like – landslides, road blockage, etc. In such case extra will have to be paid on the spot by the guests directly.

f) Personal expenses such as laundry, bottled water, soft drinks, incidentals, porter charges, tips, medicines, etc.

g) Paragliding charges

h) Any item not specified in the ‘Inclusions’.


Important Notice:-


a) Most of the accommodations are basic but clean and safe.

b) The accommodations are in home stays &/ small guest houses run by the locals.

c) Telephone, Television, Internet, Electric Water Heater are obviously not available everywhere.

d) Room Heaters might be available in higher altitudes but are chargeable extra.

e) Not suitable for those expecting luxurious stays.

f) Pre-fixed Veg &/ Non-Veg home-made food is served. If you have any food preferences, inform them in advance.

g) Carry your regular medicines. First Aid is available & medical facility is available in most of the places.

h) All should carry Identity Proof (Passport / Voter ID / Driving License) & Passport photos

i) The roads are bumpy in most parts of this route. Be prepared.

j) Some itineraries may not be suitable for senior citizens & guests with certain health complications like arthritis, heart ailments, etc. Pls do inform us in advance as they might need some special arrangements.

k) Smoking / Drinking is discouraged.

l) Our trips are announced after thorough research. One of our representatives will accompany you for the trip to ensure that the trip is smooth.

m) Certain areas may or may not be reachable during the trip as it depends on the climatic conditions and snowfall.

We care about the local communities, their culture, economy and environment. Act responsibly while traveling.


a) Respect the culture, tradition & religious sensitivity of the locals. 

b) Dress and behave properly in villages and holy places.

c) Minimize use of water & power.

d) Avoid buying products made of coral, endangered animals or plants.

e) Do not pluck flowers or plants.

f) Avoid littering. Bring them back to your place to dispose. Recycle where possible. 

g) Eat what the locals eat.

h) Purchase local products. Avoid bargaining. Pay fair price.

i) Visit the locals, talk to them, and learn their culture.

j) Avoid smoking & drinking.

k) Take permission before taking pictures.


Cancellations / Refunds:-


75% of the trip cost refunded if cancelled 60 days in advance.

50% of the trip cost refunded if cancelled 59 to 15 days in advance.

Entire amount will be forfeited in case of cancellation within 15 days or no show.




a) Unusual Escapes is not responsible for any untoward incident happening due to the ignorance / negligence of the guests, natural / man-made calamities, accidents or any other events that are out of human control during the trip.

b) Unusual Escapes reserves the right to cancel the trip under certain conditions – in such a case, the amount will be refunded in full.

c) No refund of money for unutilized services in part or in full whatsoever may be the reason.

d) Additional cost arising due to mishaps, political unrest, natural calamities like – landslides, road blockage, etc. will have to be paid on the spot by the guest directly.



We would be traveling to the higher altitudes as high as 14,000 ft. ASL during the trip. Certain level of physical fitness is required to travel such high altitudes. Though you may not be doing excessive walking anywhere, those not used to walking might find it a little tiring. By participating in this trip, you extend your consent to travel in high altitudes.
