Science Explorers Quest (Jr- Module1)

About the event: 

"Activity before Concept, Concept before Vocabulary". That is how one should learn science. Selected 23 experiments/activities from the middle school physics, chemistry and biology syllabi to help students learn science through experiments. These experiments will help them learn concepts better and forever.  Let’s move children away from rote learning.  

All the experiments are split into two modules of 23 experiments each. Both the modules are independent and can be done in any order. You can do only the one you like.  

In Module 1, you would do the following experiments: 

• Stem cross-section: Observing the cross-section of stem under the microscope 
• Chemistry of Dry Ice 
• Flame Test 
• Crystallization of Salts 
• Hand Hygiene: How Clean Is Your Hand?   

• Oersted experiment : Studying magnetic field produced by electric current 
• Filtration of water 
• Smoky Splash 
• Mixture or compound 
• Ammonia Fountain reaction 
• Rainbow of Natural Dyes: Extracting the Colour of Natural Dyes 
• Observing Plant and Animal cell. 
• Ripening of banana 
• The Guard cell: Observe the stomata in a leaf peel 
• Action of saliva on starch: Effect of temperature 
• Playing with static electricity 
• Reflection and refraction 
• Coloured shadows 
• Making kaleidoscope/ Periscope 
• Sounds in Outer Space: Effect of Air in Sound Intensity   
• Floating leaf disc: Observe leaf disc floating in water due to oxygen bubble 
• Osmosis in dried raisins/potato. 
• Making a parachute 

Duration: 4 hours a day for 5 days 

Minimum Age: 11 years
