Emotions are both positive and negative. Certain emotions like joy, ecstasy, happiness are positive whereas emotions like anger, frustration, stress are negative ones.
Ability to manage ones’ emotions is what differentiates happy and successful people from those who are unhappy and unsuccessful. Emotions can be managed, only when we understand and acknowledge them. An emotionally intelligent person not only understands his emotions but also understands and empathizes with others’ emotions, which gives him an advantage in managing interpersonal relationships effectively.
Research suggests that, 85% of a person’s success depends on his/her Emotional Quotient (EQ) and only 15% on his/her Intelligence Quotient (IQ). Though a lot of emphasis is laid on IQ what is required is enhancement of EQ.
