Global Buddhist Congregation 2011 with Support from Public Diplomacy Division of Ministry of External Affairs, Govt of India present Sambodh - Buddhist Themed Film Festival. The Film Festival is organized byAsoka Mission to commemorate 2600 years of Buddha's Enlightenment.
India is known world over as the land of cinema and hailed for its soft power. Several films on Buddha and Buddhist themes in various languages have been produced in India and world over, yet never has there been a film festival showcasing such films.
Buddhist Film Festivals are organized in various countries as prime annual event and in Buddhist countries it is being held as part of commemoration of the 2,600th anniversary of Buddha's Enlightenment. A film festival showcasing films that are best representations of Buddhist thoughts and philosophies and tenets is being held in New delhi.
As part of Global Buddhist Congregation with films from India, Nepal, Bhutan, Europe, Korea etc.
Some of the best known names of our film industry such as Manisha Koirala, Deepti Naval, Parikshit Sahni, Suresh Jindal (Producer of Gandhi), Kusum Ansal (Producer of Panchwati), Mr. Greg Kruglak (Producer of Melarepa) will be attending the festival.
