Roli Books presents an exhibition of photographs from the book 'Rajasthan : Under the Desert Sky' by Rajesh Bedi, Text by Gillian Wright.
With Rajasthan: Under the Desert Sky the internationally acclaimed photographer Rajesh Bedi has distilled the experiences of many years to capture the visual splendour and majesty of Rajasthan’s dunes, forts and palaces, rich cultural and natural heritage and, above all, the vibrant character of its people. In all seasons and weathers he has chosen to follow the paths less travelled. He has sought to record centuries’ old ways of life and how they are changing.
He has approached the border with Pakistan and recorded the little known remnants of trade routes that now no longer exist. He has been mesmerized by the symmetry and ornate splendour of ancient stepwells and ruined temples. An expert wildlife photographer, Rajesh has captured rare glimpses of Rajasthan’s wildlife and gained moving insights into the communities that protect wild animals as an article of faith. This book presents the vastnesses of Rajasthan from a fresh perspective. Buffeted by desert winds, he experimented with photography from hot air balloons and with cameras mounted on high-flying kites.
