Retrospect: Modern retail in India has experienced remarkable transformation in a short period of one and a half decades. This period of transition and experimentation, successes and failures has yielded great lessons for retailers to help them in their journey ahead. With the world getting more and more flat, retailers can’t afford to stay uninformed about the trends in international markets as it directly impacts customer expectations. Retrospection is thus the first step towards preparing for Retail 2020.
Reinvent: In the new world order, customers have direct 24/7 access to products, services and information from across the globe. This is influencing their behavior patterns and expectations. To stay relevant, retailers will need to redesign everything from business paradigms, distribution technology, merchandise mix, customer service to even employee strategies. They will have to integrate hitherto unknown concepts like the Internet of Things (IOT), Mobile First philosophy and peer – to – peer into their business models and their organization’s DNA.
Rewrite: Supremacy in the marketplace can only be achieved by either doing different things or doing things differently. Retailers will now have to rewrite the rules of the game, donning new avatars characterized by collaboration, innovation and new channel strategies.
RLS 2015 is where industry visionaries, thought leaders and disrupters will convene to Retrospect on the past, Reinvent current business dynamics and Rewrite the path to Retail 2020.
