ADVANTAGES OF PARTICIPATION IN INDIA
• The sector has grown at an annual rate of 23% to achieve 28,446 MW by May 2013 • The renewable power installed capacity forms 12.5% of the total installed capacity in FY 2011- 2012 • Additional capacity of 30,000 MW is planned from various renewable energy technologies in the next five years • Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission - Phase II, has set the target of deploying 10,000 MW of grid connected solar power, 1,000 MW of Off-Grid Solar and 15 mn sq meters of Solar Thermal Collectors by 2017 • Wind Energy is estimated to contribute 15,000 MW, followed by Solar Power at 10,000 MW, Small Hydro Power by 2100 MW and Bio Mass Power by 2700 MW during the on-going 5-year plan (2012-2017) • With 19,317 MW of generation, wind continues to account for 70% of the installed RE capacity • RE generation from Small Hydro power is 3671 MW
REI 2013 is a unique opportunity for government and industry to form partnerships to successfully meet the challenges and opportunities that are present in India’s renewable energy sector. As its economy expands, the Government of India has committed itself to promote clean energy technologies through programs such as the National Solar Mission and Energy Efficiency Missions.
