An electrifying night of Raag Ranjani- rare combination of Classical jugalbandi and Fusion Music Concert by Surmani Pravin Godkhindi and Pandit Jayatheerth Mevundi.
There will also be a celebration of the languages of Karnataka through a Bharatanatyam presentation with rare compositions in Kannada, Konkani, Tulu and Kodava by Kumari Kiran Kamath
Pravin Godkhindi:
Born in a family of musicians, music is a divine blessing to Pravin. He hails from Dharward, a place which has given to the world many great musicians like Pt. Bhimsen Joshi, Gangubai Hangal and Pt. Kumar Gandharva. Pravin started toying with a small flute at the tender age of 3 and since then it has been his best companion. Pravin gave his first public concert at the age of 6 years and held the audience spellbound.
His father has taught him Hindustani BANSURI in KIRANA GHARAANA GAYAKI STYLE. But Pravin added the GATKAARI OR TANTRAKAARI STYLE by his own efforts and succeeded in it.
Pandit Jayatheerth Mevundi:
Sri Jayatheerth Mevundi considered to be the doyen of Kiraana Gharaana by connoisseurs of music, hails from a land of no snitch, Hubli- Dharward of Karnataka. Sri Jayateerth Mevundi is a role model for the wannabe musicians, thanks to his talent and hardwork. This melodious singer was awarded with "Young maestro in music" by the past president of India, Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalaam besides the recognition akin to Pt. Jasraj Gourav Puraskar, Pt. Basavraj Rajguru Puraskar and Aditya Birla Sangeet Kala Kiran. The glitterati among these is the "Swar Bhaskar Puraskar" the first ever award given in the name of Bharath Ratna Pt. Bhimsen Joshi.
