Who are we?

We are people just like you - students, employees, moms, dads, friends, sons, daughters, and colleagues. In short,  we are your everyday humans!

What is this run/walk?

The PUREathon 2k/5k run and walk is our attempt to raise awareness regarding period poverty and also fight the taboos that inhibit the ability of menstruators to get uninterrupted education.

Who can participate?

All are welcome to join - students, employees, families, retirees, NGOs, corporates, and absolutely anyone!

How will the run/walk help?

By participating in the run, you will be joining thousands of voices that believe in girl child education and fighting period poverty. Your voice matters and is needed to fight the deep-rooted taboos.

What is Period Poverty? 

Period poverty is defined as a lack of access to menstrual products, hygiene facilities, waste management, and education. 

What is PURE?

PURE, People for Urban and Rural Education, is an NGO focused on bringing educational opportunities closer to children in need. Read more about us at www.pureonline.org. PURE has been working on period poverty through our program - PURE Femme.

What is PURE Femme?

PURE Femme, a menstrual hygiene awareness campaign, is focused on educating adolescent girls about managing menstruation adequately and with dignity. The goal of the program is to not let menstruation impact our girl’s right to education. Facilitating easy access to hygiene products and demonstrating their usage, interactive sessions to help them understand puberty, including teachers & boys in the conversation to create normalcy around this culturally forbidden topic will ensure a supportive environment. We have traveled thousands of kilometers to conduct workshops in rural and tribal schools, orphanages, and colleges. 

Who will benefit from the fundraiser through PUREathon?

PUREathon is not entirely a fundraiser, we need your ideas, skills, education, and most importantly your time as a volunteer. The funds raised will go toward providing menstrual hygiene supplies to children's shelters, and students in tribal and rural areas.

When will I receive the T-shirt?

You will receive details about pickup/delivery via email.
