  • Regular Life Membership

    Medical Practioner holding Allopathic (modern Medicine) qualification recognized under Schedule 1 & 3 of Indian Medical Council Act 1965 (and Indian M...edical Degrees Act 7 of 1916) and also holding additional qualification duly recognised by the National Medical Commission (previously MCI), the Maharashtra Medical Council in the sciences and art of Ophthalmology and Indian Medical Registry for Modern Medicine (That is basic qualification needs to be MBBS).

  • Associate Life Membership

    Any member of medical profession, holding Allopathic (Modern Medicine) qualification (MBBS) and also holding additional qualification duly recognized ...by the National Medical Council in the sciences and art of Ophthalmology and Indian Medical Registry for Modern Medicine that is basic qualification is MBBS, and interested in Ophthalmology can become an Assoiciate Member. Eligible Ophthalmologist domiciled outside Pune district can apply for the Associate Life Membership of POS.

    Students pursuing post-graduation in Ophthalmology (Modern Medicine, Allopathy-MBBS) who wish to join the society can do so. This membership can be su...bsequently converted to life membership on application to the society.

Terms & Conditions

  1. Those ophthalmologists domiciled in Pune district are qualified for the Regular Life Membership. Will have voting rights in this category.
  2. Those ophthalmologists domiciled OUTSIDE Pune district should apply for the Associate Life Membership. No voting rights for this category.
  3. PG student/Residents should apply under the student category, After they complete PGship, they need to apply to POS for conversion to Regular Life Membership (if domiciled in Pune district) or Associate Life Membership (if domiciled outside Pune district). The conversion to regular or associate membership is NOT automatic.
  4. Non allopathy are not allowed to apply for POS membership.
  5. Minimum eligibility is MBBS to apply for any of the three membership categories.
