About The Event

"Inner leader  - Vipassana for Business"

TiE Hyderabad is organizing a Panel Discussion on "Inner leader -
Vipassana for Business" from 3:30 PM to 7:00 PM on Friday 17th February,
2012 at the Center for Organization Development, COD, Madhapur, Hyderabad.

Vipassana, which means to see things as they really are, is one of India's
most ancient techniques for exercising the mind. It was rediscovered by
Gotama Buddha more than 2500 years ago.

This non-sectarian technique aims for the total eradication of mental
impurities and the resultant highest happiness of full liberation. Healing,
not merely the curing of diseases, but the essential healing of human
suffering, is its purpose.

Vipassana is a way of self-transformation through self-observation. It
focuses on the deep interconnection between mind and body, which can be
experienced directly by disciplined attention to the physical sensations
that form the life of the body, and that continuously interconnect and
condition the life of the mind. It is this observation-based,
self-exploratory journey to the common root of mind and body that dissolves
mental impurity, resulting in a balanced mind full of love and compassion.

The scientific laws that operate one's thoughts, feelings, judgments and
sensations become clear. Through direct experience, the nature of how one
grows or regresses, how one produces suffering or frees oneself from
suffering is understood. Life becomes characterized by increased awareness,
non-delusion, self-control and peace.

"A Buddhist meditation discipline called Vipassana helped me to discover my
inner strength and centeredness. It is a ten-day residential program
where you are not allowed to distract yourself by reading, talking or
writing. Through these ten days, one has to focus ... and become intensely
aware of one's being. As I practiced this daily, and I still do, I was able
to be in touch with my own inner self and from which I gained comfort and
strength. It taught me that unless we tap the personal power which is
within each of us, we cannot lead from positional power - the power that
comes from our office and title. With centeredness, we begin to appreciate
the uniqueness of our own being and through that process learn to respect
the individuality of every person. Once we practice this, we don't see
people as faceless categories - employees, shareholders and so on"

- Anu Aga, Thermax's second Chairperson

During this discussion, we will watch (12 minutes) how business leaders in
India from across industries and sectors cope with uncertainty and change in
a challenging market environment. Business Leaders (including S. Chandra,
Chairman, Essel Group, Anu Aga, Director, Thermax Ltd., JP Agarwal, Chairman
& MD, Surya Roshni Ltd) discuss how the practice of Vipassana meditation
enables them to more effectively manage their own stress, increase employee
