Oxfam Trailwalker is the world's greatest team challenge to overcome poverty and injustice. With teams of 4 required to walk (or run) 100 km in 48 hours or walk 50 km in 24 hours, it is a test of physical endurance requiring mental strength and team spirit while raising funds to fight poverty and injustice.
Oxfam Trailwalker is a growing global phenomenon. In 2017, Oxfam Trailwalkers is being held in 10 different countries across four continents.
It comprises of three challenges in one event:
■ A satisfying physical endeavour: to complete 100 Km in a maximum of 48 Hours or 50 Km in 24 Hours.
■ A fun team exercise: to do the above as a team of four, you have to start together, stick together, and finish together. It takes training and preparation and involves the support of some volunteers to back you up along the way.
■ A rewarding fundraising enterprise: to commit to raise at least INR 80,000 per team to support the work of OxfamIndia
Oxfam Trailwalker is an event that involves significant commitment, endurance and at the end of it all, a wonderful sense of achievement. Whatever role you play, by participating in this ultimate life changing event, you will be helping to make a real difference by raising funds for some of the poorest communities in India.
Why do it?
The first edition of Oxfam India Trailwalker in February 2012 saw 80 teams participating in the event and 78 teams complete the 100 km stretch from Sangam Mekedattu to Bidadi (near Bengaluru). The fastest team completed the challenge in just 20 hours and 36 minutes. The event saw over 400 teams participating in 2016-17 edition in Mumbai and Bengaluru.
To register every team must give Rs. 20,000**. After completing the registration, it is mandatory for every team to raise a minimum of Rs. 80,000 before the event*.
