Night trek to Revanasiddheshwara Betta with Ramdevara Betta
Sixty two kilometers from Bengaluru, in the Ramnagaram area lies Revana Siddeshwara betta (935 mts). Originally a pilgrim site for devotees of Shiva, its sheer rock faces and abundance of boulders have increasingly begun to attract a different kind of devotee over the last few years - Rock climbers and trekkers.
The route to the top is pretty straightforward. First you go under the temple arch at the entrance, then onto a clear path laid with granite slabs, and then all the way up a flight of stairs carved into the rock face to the Revana Siddeshwara temple. At the top you experience a breathtaking 360 degree view of the entire geography (hillocks, green fields and plantations) of the region. Devoid of any sound except that of strong winds, Revana Siddeshwara invokes a sort of contemplative state of mind.
While Revana Siddeshwara cannot be called a trek, it is a very fulfilling hill climb for anyone* wanting to get away from the humdrum of city life to find some peace and quiet.
