Theatron Anna University presents
Night of January 16th – A Crea-Shakthi Campus Theatre Initiative
About The Play:
Inspired by the death of the "Match King", Ivar Kreuger. It takes place entirely in a courtroom during a murder trial. An unusual feature of the play is that members of the audience are picked to take on the role of jury members each night. They hear the case of Karen Andre, the former secretary and lover of businessman Bjorn Faulkner, whom Andre is accused of murdering. The play does not directly portray the events of Faulkner's death; instead the jury must rely on character testimony and vote on whether Andre is guilty or not guilty.
About The Group:
One of our first ever associates, the students of the various campus’ within Anna Univeristy come together as an extremely talented ensemble every single time. The Campus Theatre Initiative have allowed them to blossom into something more than just a club theatre group with a lot of mature work including Girish Karnad’s Fire & The Rain, The Wedding Album and Vijay Tendulkar’s The Cyclist. Even their Drama-log performances always leave a mark and their concept of including fresher’s in their alternate production is leading to an influx of great new exciting talent to watch out for! Proof of engineers setting trends and thinking and acting differently!
Crea-Shakthi is a theatre group committed to the cause of taking the craft to the next generation. In the last 5 years, the group has produced over 260 actors, 14 directors, 19 plays and over 80 shows mostly in Chennai. The campus Theatre initiative provides financial & artistic support & inputs to all college groups with the single minded objective of creating new and exciting resources for the stage in Chennai. We're tied up with over 19 campus groups from across the country.
