What is Product Management? How is it related to the success of your product? For that to be understood, we should try to understand how the success of a product is measured. If a user agrees that “Yes, this product is satisfying my needs and solving my problems”, then that is a success for the product. If the product’s buyer (who in most cases may be different from the user) is satisfied with the business value of the product, then that is a success for the product. So how is it linked to Product Management?
Product Management is the function in your organization that understands the market 24*7*365. They exude customer advocacy and communicate business value to the buyer. Product Management doesn’t guarantee absolute success, but not practicing it assures definite failure. The session will explore Product Management, how it should be practiced and practical examples from leading organizations of the world on not just successes but failures as well.
Ramesh is the Director of the consulting group at Confianzys Consulting with over 25 years of professional experience in Product Management, Product Marketing and Senior Leadership roles with premier IT organizations at a global level. A post-graduate in Management from XLRI, Ramesh has been advising, consulting, training, coaching and mentoring Entrepreneurs in the IT industry for over 15 years.
In the past, he has worked with several large and medium sized software companies, across US, Europe, India and Asia Pacific. He was responsible for conceptualizing and launching several successful products and not so very successful ones as well. He is an acclaimed consultant who has undertaken extensive consulting assignments at Confianzys. A sample list of past and current assignments include engaging with companies like NDS, Oracle, HP, ABB, Symantec, D E Shaw & Co, Apple, Autodesk, Broadcom, Flextronics, IBM, Infosys, EMC, CTS, Sun (now Oracle), Hexaware, Honeywell, Siemens, Wells Fargo and Wipro.
He is also a visiting faculty at Indian Institute of Management – Bangalore (IIMB) and conducts courses for practicing managers on international marketing, technology products management, negotiation skills and cross-cultural business.
Pradeep is the Founder Director at Confianzys and has more than 17 years of experience in the IT and Consulting industry. His functional expertise includes Supply Chain, Distribution, Manufacturing, and Planning & Performance Management. He has worked with organizations like Citibank Cards, Sonata Software, Bahwan Cybertek and IBM Corporation.
He has experience working with companies building businesses and products ground-up for real world problems and these companies ranged from mid-stage companies to Fortune 10 companies across industry verticals, most significant being FMCG/CPG, Retail/eTail, Hi-Tech and Engineering apart from short stints in Banking and Insurance working with marquee global giants and new age ideas. He gained deep exposure to both B2C and B2B drivers and the line between both value chains.
The journey to understand why Indian IT industry could not build products or ground up businesses and how to tackle that problem, lead to the founding of Confianzys in late 2008.
