About The Event

Application of chemistry is all around us. Exploring the concepts behind some of these application is very exciting and magical. In this program, you will go hands on exploring these concepts and bring various elements of science from other domain together. You will be enriCHed after conducting following experiments and exploration activities:

 

  • Crystallization
  • Flame test of different substances
  • pH of common substances
  • Chemical Reaction- Addition/Displacement/Double Displacement/Decomposition
  • Catalysed reactions
  • Electrochemistry-Dry cells/Electrochemical cells/Electrolysis of water
  • Photochemistry-Light decomposition and Photography
  • Performing Titration reactions to determine vitamin C in different food substances
  • Identifying different constituents of foods
  • Studying Reaction Kinetics
  • Making a fire extinguisher
  • Chromatography in science and arts
  • Electroplating and electrorefining
  • Understand the working of diapers

 

You will learn a lot of application of chemistry in our day to day life. You will learn the concepts, you would relate concepts to real world and you would have done some magical and some not so magical experiments.

 

Duration: 24 hours (4 hours a day for 6 days)

About Atishaya: Atishaya Kumar Saksham is a post-graduate from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore with a major in Earth and Environmental Science. Atishaya is deeply passionate about science and wants to promote it amongst students. Despite being selected by IIT to pursue engineering, Atishaya chose to pursue his passion for pure science and joined IISc. He is a recipient of KVPY fellowship (Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojna) from the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India.  Atishaya’s research experience ranges from Environmental Computation and Modelling to Bio and Chemical Remediation. When he’s not immersed in scientific research, Atishaya volunteers for various social events related to education.
