About The Event

Monsoon Jazz at Marriott Hyderabad featuring The Sharik Hassan Quartet, the New York based music group, which has some of the most renowned musicians of today’s world performing cutting edge contemporary jazz.


The Sharik Hassan Quartet features Sharik Hassan on the Piano, with Phillipe Lemm on the  Drums, while Pawan Benjamin takes on the Saxophone and Marco Zenin the i- Bass, where they come together in harmony to render the best ever music.


Hasan’s compositions are renowned for having a distinct sound, which is energetic and catchy that they evolve as being soulful and thoughtful that makes it a unique confluence of culture, tradition and innovation.  


Monsoon Jazz at Marriott Hyderabad is being organized by the Goethe Zentrum, The Western Music Foundation and the Yacht Club of Hyderabad in partnership with The Rotary Club of Hyderabad Deccan. The event is being organized to support the under-privileged children who are learning to sail at the Yacht Club of Hyderabad, their education and future in the sport both at a national and international level.

About the Artists at the Monsoon Jazz Line-up:


Sharik Hasan, counted to be among the leading pianists and composers of the generation emerging from the subcontinent, who is trained in jazz and classical music in France and USA. He has a masters degree in music from the Manhattan School of Music and currently lives in the US.


Sharik Hasan was also working in the Indian classical musical traditions for several years, while the young pianist also integrated quickly into the world of jazz, while playing with his trio at international festivals.


He is renowned for having performed across the globe, including nations like the Blue Note (New York), Panama Jazz Festival, Kriol Jazz Festival (Cape Verde), Nancy Jazz Festival (France), Lincoln Center (New York) and has shared the stage with luminaries such as John Patitucci, Joe Lovano, Wayne Shorter, Terri Lyne Carrington, Adam Nussbaum, Ralph Peterson, and David Liebman among others, etc.

Philippe Lemm, is among the most renowned jazz drummers in Netherlands, who was admitted into the Amsterdam Conservatory at the very young age of 19. During his second year in the conservatory, he started his international tour with the jazz trumpeter Saskia Laroo, while leading his own group Wazabe.


By the end of his course period Philippe was performing alongside with the renowned Dutch jazz musicians like Karel Boehlee (Toots Thielemans), Jorg Kaaij (Jazz Orchestra of the Concert Gebouw) and Peter Tiehuis (Metropole Orchestra),etc.


Philippe Lemm is currently a part of the New York based group Life Size, Angelo Di Loreto Trio, Olli Hirvonen Quartet, Sharik Hasan New York Quartet, Pat Carroll Group and vocalist Andrea Wood to name a few.


Marco Zenini, the bassist, was born in Rome and graduated in classical music in Italy and Jazz in Netherlands. He also went on the study electric bass and double bass from a tender age 16 and has since then been intensely active in different musical environments ranging from the classical orchestras to funk/rock ensembles and jazz, exploring the versatilities of music.


Marco Zenini has performed at numerous major venues and festivals across Netherlands and Italy along with having traveled and performed at shows across Europe,Turkey and South Africa.


Pawan Benjamin’s knowledge of the western harmony and the traditional jazz paired up with his knowledge of music from India and Nepal has set him apart as a unique performer with a worldly perspective of music. He flawlessly applies these learnings as a  saxophonist. He began learning saxophone from the tender age of 16, under avant-garde jazz legend, Roscoe Mitchell, the learning of which is evident in his flawless rendering of jazz music through his saxophone.
