The Eighth International Conference on Matrix-Analytic Methods in Stochastic Models (MAM8) aims to bring together researchers working on the theoretical, algorithmic and methodological aspects of matrix-analytic methods in stochastic models and the applications of such mathematical research across a broad spectrum of fields. The next MAM conference will be held at National Institute of Technology Calicut, Kerala, India.
Matrix-analytic methods have become recognized as a standard approach for the mathematical analysis of general classes of complex stochastic models. Research in the area of matrix-analytic methods seeks to discover underlying probabilistic structures intrinsic in such stochastic models, to develop numerical algorithms for computing functionals (e.g., performance metrics) of the underlying stochastic processes, and to apply these probabilistic structures and/or computational algorithms within a wide variety of fields, which includes computer science and engineering, telephony and communication networks, electrical and industrial engineering, operations research, management science, financial and risk analysis, and bio-statistics. These research studies provide deep insights and understanding of the stochastic models of interest from a mathematical or applications perspective (or both).
