Lodhi Garden: An Anatomy In Black In White Photographs by Shahid Hashmi
Shahid's love affair with the camera started in mid seventies when he began shooting with B&W film of those times. His photography has been influenced greatly by the emotions, drama, and the uniqueness of the moment in time. What has also inspired him is the ability of the cameras limited and, at the same time, unlimited vision.
Another intriguing element that inspires his photography is the possibility of unlimited expressions through the lens - be it the immense beauty and appeal of nature's bounty or a distorted vision of the same reality. What makes photography a passion for Shahid is the insights of different worlds it presents that exist in the same space and time. Shahid's photography has also been greatly influenced by the immense beauty of nature and the diverse personalities of people he has photographed. Each person is a different story, a different world and a different experience to photograph. Shahid has traveled extensively in Europe, Africa, the Middle East and the Indian sub-continent. His work has been exhibited widely in the UAE, the US, and Europe. Shahid has been teaching photography to international participants for several years.
