As Kolkata’s favourite gastropub, Monkey Bar , turns ‘one’, get ready for a one of its kind magical live performance. ‘Live at Monkey’ is a feature every alternate Friday nights with performances by fabulous independent artists, every Friday, in association with Smoke Inc. Performing this Friday, September 8th from 8-10 pm is ‘Pelican Shuffles’ a young eclectic band from Kolkata with Varun Gujadhur on guitar and vocals, Subhomoy Mitra on bass and Sougata Hari on drums and percussions. With music that ranges from popular pop, punk and alternative to old retro classics, you can get grooving to the tunes of popular covers like ‘Sky Full of Stars’ by Coldplay, ‘Without or Without you’ by U2 as well as some of the band’s original music including ‘Break your Stance’ and ‘Lost Control’. In keeping with the theme of Monkey’s first birthday celebrations – we promise you a truly magical evening! Along with the band, visual artist Nishit Arora takes you a through a series of psychedelic visuals, synchronized with the music to make the experience more enchanting. That’s not all, for all you party goers out there, our in-house DJ Rwik takes over after 10 pm.
Pelican Shuffles is a three member-band featuring Varun Gujadhuron guitar and vocals, Subhomoy Mitra on the bass guitar, Sougata Hari on the drums and percussions. New to Kolkata’s music scene, the band gave their first live performance in April 2017 at the Beer Republic Jam. Soon after the success of their first performance, they played across several venues in the city. Apart from this they collaborated with Friday Night Originals to create their first original video, ‘Break your Stance’and also gave their first online gig with Playtoome.
