Landscape photography requires skills that are both technical and creative. Mumbai in Pixels (MIP) and Grassroutes have come together to organise a landscape photography workshop, that will help elevate your landscape clicks to a different level.

This workshop will include a classroom theory session conducted in Mumbai, followed by an overnight field trip to Dehna (135km away from Mumbai in the Shahpur District) and a review of the photographs the following week. The trainer, Shannon Heng, will share his knowledge on settings, composition, and guide you on how to maximise the use of your DSLR. This workshop is interactive where discussions are encouraged.

Village Dehena:

Dehena - A thousand year old village invites you to walk through its quaintly winding lanes. Witness the fascinating play of light & shadow among earthy houses and scenic farms, the fragrance of Nature permeating the fields of medicinal herbs & healthy grain, an immense variety of birds calling out for your attention.

Eat delicious food cooked on firewood with simple ingredients & a pure heart, in the company of the village folk at their homes. If you’re up for it, you could even lend a hand with the cooking! Discuss photography and exchange life-stories with the group over tea around a bonfire. Sing. Dance if you feel called to move to a more primeval rhythm. Lie back on your charpai and take in the eternal dance of the stars & other celestial bodies as they waltz through the night sky.

Staying arrangements at Dehena

The village will have tents around a campsite. The tents are provided with mattress, blankets, bed-sheets, pillows & pillow-covers.

There are common western bathrooms at the campsite.

Once there, the guests are briefed on the accommodation.

Please note that this is not a luxury holiday. It is an experiential and rustic weekend village getaway.

The food is always vegetarian consisting of chapatis, rice, dal and 2 vegetables along with pickle or salad.

Non-vegetarian meals: boiled eggs for breakfast, chicken for either lunch or dinner can be arranged at additional costs.
