Delhi has recently witnessed the most unfortunate happening of rape and murder of girl, which has filled the Delhiites in anger and grief. Criminals not only breached the boundaries of humanity but left many people numb. This anger made each Delhiite to stand for justice. This incidence has made a long lasting impact whose waves still exist in Delhi. This would definitely give a new dimension to criminal justice in India. This incidence has made almost each Delhiite to feel vigor and force inside him to be the one who can change whatever wrong is going around him. This unity proved that patience of people has been saturated now. Each one is filled with a will to change, each person wish to give one chance to him to be a part in this evolution.
Objective is to create an environment wherein youth of Delhi get together to be a part of this movement. This event will give platform to youth express themselves through plays. Motive is to create a forum to discuss problems related to crime against women in Delhi.
1. Drama- Kagaar Ki Aag
"Kagaar Ki Aag" based on Himanshu Joshi's Hindi novel of the same title. It is the story of a woman Gomti and her fight for survival against Kal Ram a rich man of the village and brother of Gomti's, father-in-law. Kal Ram has not only usurped Gomti's land but has also made her husband into a bonded labour and now has an eye on beautiful Gomti who has been repulsing his advances.
One day when he makes advances towards her she defends herself with a sickle and so begins more and more atrocities against Gomti and her family. Teju, Kal Ram's son too has an eye on Gomti and one night he tries to outrage her modesty.
As a last resort she turns into Chandi, the destroyer of evil and sets Teju's and his father's house on fire and disappears from the village forever and even today, suffering from the guilt, the villagers often see here ghost and hear her cry every night.
2. State of crime against women in Delhi- A discussion
The discussion on this issue would be conducted by a penal of distinguished personalities from television and print media. Discussion would a two-way discussion with the youth present at the event.
We are also planning to involve working women who has distinguished achievements in various fields to be the part of the panel.
3. Dance performance- on the song ‘Ganga’ sung by Late Sh. Bhupen Hazarika
This dance performance aspires to connect womanhood with Ganga. This fusion dance performance will take away the hearts of each one in the audience as the dance performance would relate the pain, anguish and apathy of women with holy river Ganga.
WALL OF WILL
Event will have a huge campus wherein people would give impression of their right hand palm with various colors which would demonstrate the diversity of Delhiites. The canvas would demonstrate that people of Delhi which are of diverse backgrounds whether that difference is of caste, class, religion or region, they stand against the crime against women.
