Overview:
Jim Corbett Wildlife is located in the newly formed Indian state of Uttaranchal. Well established in the foothills of the majestic Himalayas, Corbett National Park is home to a variety of flora and fauna.The natural uniqueness of the area was recognized long ago as a result of which in 1936 Corbett attained the distinction of becoming the first National Park to be established in mainland Asia. The area came under ‘Project Tiger’ in 1971 when Gov. of India launched this ambitious conservation project.
Today after addition of areas into the originally declared National Park, the total area of Tiger Reserve extends 1288.31 sq. km spreading over three districts of Uttarakhand viz., Pauri, Nainital and Almora. Corbett National Park covers an area of 521 sq. km and together with the neighboring Sonanadi Wildlife Sanctuary and Reserve Forest areas forms the Corbett Tiger Reserve. Geographically it is located between the Shiwalik Himalayas and the Terai. Elephant. In addition to that with over 550 species of avifauna Corbett is one of the richest bird regions of the Country and has been declared as an ‘Important Bird Area’ (IBA) by Birdlife International.
Itinerary:
Day 1 – Departure from Pune
Evening departure for Ramnagar (Jim Corbett)
Day 2: Arrive Corbett National Park
Drive from Delhi and reach Ramnagar (260 Km /06 hrs drive) latest by noon. Check-in at wildlife resort, relax for a while and have lunch. You can enjoy the luxurious facilities at resort and rest of the day at leisure today. Spend some pleasant hours in the evening simply sitting at the bank of river Kosi. Nights are very pleasant in Corbett, have dinner underneath the twinkling stars and retire for the night.
Day 3: Wildlife Resort to Dhikala/Gairal
In the morning jeep driver will pick up from the resort and take you to Dhikala /Gairal forest lodge via Dhangarhi gate. Check-in at forest rest house where the room is already booked for you in advance. Take a short break and get ready for the first exciting jeep safari in search of remarkable wildlife of Corbett. We head through one way Shambar road which is famous for spotting the tiger. The 03-hour game drive will pass through the most amazing flora and fauna of the park. Later in the evening, come back to lodge. Have dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.
Day 4: Dhikala – Enjoy Elephant Ride & Forest Exploration
Tour to Dhikala is incomplete without an elephant ride that gives you an opportunity to ramble over the lowlands at an altitude of 09-10 ft. high. Elephant safari takes you to those areas of the forest where Jeep can’t go. It is a great idea to observe the breathtaking view of the valley and jungle. Expert Mahaouts takes you inside the deep forest from where some wonderful sights can be seized. After safari come back to lodge have refreshments and take rest. Soon after the lunch get ready for the second jeep safari. Later in the evening come back to lodge and have dinner and retire for the night.
Day 5: Dhikala/Gairal to onward destination
Today we take you to the final jeep safari in morning After you finish safari come back to lodge for breakfast & check out from the lodge. Leaving behind the magic of Corbett, move to the next destination to catch flight/train.
Day 6 – Arrive in Pune
Arrive in Pune with awesome wild memories.
