Jazz Concert - Eastern Flowers. The project revolves around the Trio 'Eastern Flowers', a group which came into existence one and a half year ago. All the three members of this group have an Indian connection as well as German lineage. The contrabassist Christian Ramond and Pianist Jarry Singla both have Indo-German roots - both were born in North Rhine Westphalia, where they also grew up. The third musician Ramesh Shotam is a renowned percussionist from Chennai, who has been living in Europe since the early eighties and now for a long time in Cologne. In the music of the Trio 'Eastern Flowers' the drum language of South India 'Konakol' co exists with the west European polyphony and the driving rhythms of the jazz. The music of varied instruments from the Indian cultural heart fuses here together with the sounds of the contra bass and prepared/primed piano. Likewise the Trio combine this with sojourns into other cultural circles like Ukrainian, Japanese and Moroccan cultures.
