Alaap Music Academy is a premier institute founded by Pandit Shri Kuldeep Sagar, to promote Hindustani classical music in the city of Chennai in 2004. The academy is affiliated to Prayag Sangit Samiti, Allahabad (Music University established in India in 1926) and provides degrees and diplomas in the subjects of Vocal, Instrumental and Dance.
It is a pleasure to announce that Alaap has successfully completed 15 years in the field of teaching and promoting Hindustani Classical music in the city of Chennai, Hyderabad and Bangalore, thanks to the wonderful support and encouragement of the people of Chennai! Pandit Shri Kuldeep Sagar has trained more than 1000 students in the field of music, many of whom have become established artistes in the music industry.
'Jashn-e-Alaap’ is a grand celebration of this achievement and a musical show is being organized by the students of Alaap Music Academy, inviting various artistes and Alumni from the Music Industry to commemorate the completion of 15 years since the founding
The Students will be performing Classical, Bhajan, Tarana, Ghazal, Sufi and film & dance pieces in a three hour concert, interspersed with performances of established playback singers who are students of Alaap Music Academy
About Shri Pandit Kuldeep Sagar
Pt. Shri Kuldeep Sagar is a Hindustani Classical vocalist par excellence of the Gwalior Gharana, with a wide repertoire of Classical, Ghazal, Thumri, Dadra, Geet and Sufi music forms. Blessed with a melodious voice and impeccable musical skills, He has a magnetic stage presence and enthralls the audience with exceptional performances. He is a Hindustani Classical vocalist par excellence and performs light music such as Bhajans, Ghazals, Geet, Sufi and thumris. His compositions are based on traditional ragas and he prefers to sing compositions of contemporary poets. He is also an excellent teacher, composer and music director. He is an acclaimed singer regularly featuring in AIR and Doodarshan programs
His association with music goes back to his childhood days. He has completed both his Bachelor's and Master’s Degrees in Hindustani Classical Music from the Indira Sangeet Mahavidyalaya in Khairagarh M.P, and Diplomas - Sangeet Praveen and Sangeet Prabhakar, in Hindustani Classical Music. He has also done his Diploma in Sugam Sangeet [Geet, Ghazals and Bhajans] from the Prayag Sangeet Samiti, Allahabad. His musical skills were further honed under the guidance of the Late Sangeetacharya Pandit Nand Kishore Sharma of the Gwalior Gharana, from whom he learnt for more than ten years.
Shri. Kuldeep Sagar founded Alaap Music Academy. With over 20 Years of experience in teaching, he has trained over 1000 students in classical Hindustani and light music.
Shri. Kuldeep Sagar is working as a Manager / Producer in Song and Drama Division, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Govt. of India. He was also a visiting Faculty of the Hindustani Music Department of K.M. Conservatory [Music School of Shri. A.R.Rahman]. Shri. Kuldeep Sagar has performed widely in India and abroad, earning popularity for his classical renditions as well as his Ghazals. He regularly sings for All India Radio, Doordarshan and for other private channels. He has several lecture-demonstrations on Indian Music to his credit, and has conducted music and theatre workshops too. He has worked as a music director for various albums, telefilms, ad-films, serials, dance-dramas and stage plays
