About The Indian Prosthodontic Society, Bangalore branch (IPS B)
The Bangalore Prosthodontic forum was conceived in 1996 over a cup of coffee at the Government Dental college. The forum was the brain child of Prof. Ramanand Shetty along with Profs. Satish Babu, A K Ray, Sudhakar MC, Surya Poduaval, Kashinath, Prafulla Thumati, Ravindra Savadi, and Surendra Kumar.
The original reason for conceiving the idea was to have a uniformity in teaching methods since there was a sudden opening of many colleges under Bangalore University. Many staff members were joining the colleges and examiners were being interchanged.
This move made all the Prosthodontists of Bangalore meet on a common platform and exchange ideas and teaching methods.
The BPF was formally registered in 1998 by the founder members.
The BPF conducted IPS Annual conferences in 1998 and 2008 and also PG convention in 2004.
Once the IPS came out with the formation of regional branches, the Bangalore Prosthodontic Forum seamlessly merged with the IPS to form the currently known, IPS Bangalore branch.
