Keeping up with its tradition of bringing the best in music and cocktails to its customers, Cocktails & Dreams, Speakeasy once again is all set for some fine Jazz as it celebrates International Jazz Day on April 30, 2014!
30th April is honoured as the International Jazz Day by UNESCO. This day is marked out to celebrates the historical, cultural, and educational contribution of this popular genre of music. It aims to spread international awareness about this unique musical style; and to promote the cultural, and social values that Jazz stands for.
Honouring this sentiment, Cocktails & Dreams Speakeasy presents a night dedicated to Jazz, celebrated in the style of the speaks!
This 30th April, come and experience the world of Jazz at Cocktails & Dreams Speakeasy with a phenomenal line up of artists. Catch three outstanding bands: DRIFT THE TRIO, GREY AREA & TAKATRIO perfoming live at the Speaks!
About the bands:
DRIFT THE TRIO
Drift is a contemporary jazz guitar trio from New Delhi, India. The band has performed both, as a trio as well as a part of larger setups featuring vocalists, saxophonists and other instrumentalists from around the world. Led by Drummer Reuben Narain, the band's music is an eclectic mix of modern music styles like Funk, RnB, Fusion etc. with the compositional vision and improvisational styles of jazz greats like John Coltrane, Chick Corea, Thelonious Monk and Pat Metheny.
Grey Area is a Delhi based band, comprising of some of its finest musicians. The band plays improvisational groove based music, drawing inspiration from jazz, funk rock and R&B. Each member brings his own unique set of influences, which blend together to create the unique and exciting sound of the band.
Grey Area has performed at major jazz festivals / jazz venues across the country. The band has also done shows for brands like Apple, IDFC, Honeywell, and Kohler and The British Council.
Takatrio is an instrumental jazz trio that was started by Takar Nabam(Guitarist), after he got back from attending two semesters at Swarnabhoomi academy of music, Chennai, where he met Jayant Manchanda & Tarang Poddar. All the three members have had a di"erent upbringing and experiences as musicians, but what connects them all is their taste for instrumental jazz and other styles of improvised music. The trio plays a mix of traditional jazz and some latin jazz in a more modern context.
