About The Event

Foundation for Democratic Reforms, in association with the Bharti Institute of Public Policy, Indian School of Business and Department of Political Science, University of Hyderabad, will be organizing in the coming years a series of conferences to deliberate on the critical levers of change that need to be pushed to make democracy deliver better results. These conferences will provide a platform to have conversations and dialogue between political leaders, civil society groups and social activists, media persons, civil servants, business people, academicians, and various other professionals. We call this forum “Indian Democracy at Work.” Such conferences will be a recurring annual event. Each conference will have a focal theme. The theme for the first edition of the Indian Democracy at Work is "Money Power in Politics".

The Vice-President of India Shri M Venkaiah Naidu will be inaugurating the conference on January 9th, 2020. Some of the speakers who will be a part of our conference include Ashok Lavasa (Election Commissioner), Justice Chelameswar (former Supreme Court judge), Dr Jayaprakash Narayan (General Secretary, FDR), Kavitha Rao (Former MP, TRS), Mythili Bhusnurmath (Consulting Editor, Economic Times), Ram Madhav (National Secretary, BJP), Jairam Ramesh (Indian National Congress), Anirudh Krishna (Professor, Duke University - USA), Ashutosh Varshney (Professor, Brown University - USA), Milan Vaishnav (Director - South Asia Program, Carnegie Endowment for International Peace) Yamini Aiyar (President, Centre for Policy Research), Samuel Asher (Development Economist, John Hopkins University - USA), among others.
