Printing & Packaging Industry: An Overview     


  • Indian printing industry is well established and presently growing at 12 percent per annum 

  • Printing market in India is worth about US$ 12 billion. 

  • 8000 weekly and fortnightly newspapers/periodicals are published in Indian languages. 

  • India has 250,000 small, medium and large scale printers. 

  • Up to 26 per cent foreign direct investment is permitted in newspapers and periodicals. 

  • Packaging industry is currently valued at over US$ 14 billion and growing at 14-15 per cent annually. 

  • Approx 700 packaging machinery manufacturers out of which 95 per cent are in small and medium sector and are located all over India. 

  • Printing ink industry is valued at approx. Rs. 1800 to 2000 crore with an average growth rate of 12-15 per cent annually by volume. 

  • Demand for ink in newspaper industry grew rapidly over the past 3-4 years by nearly 20 per cent.

Interior floor design is required to be submitted to Architecture Unit of ITPO for approval, prior to commencement of construction.  The minimum bookable space is 30  sqm.

Electricity and water charges

The power consumption charges are @ Rs.130/- per KW per day, in addition Rs.190/- per KW will be charged towards connection charges.  The water charges are Rs.5400/- per connection.  In addition, Rs.965/- per tap per day will be charged.  Service tax extra @12.36%.
