About The Event

As you may be aware, recent years have witnessed India’s growing engagement with Free Trade Agreements (FTAs). Free Trade Agreements and Comprehensive Economic Cooperation / Partnership Agreements (CECA/CEPA) have been concluded or are under negotiations with a number of important countries/economies. India has signed some very critical FTAs in the past few years - with ASEAN & Korea in 2009 and with Japan & Malaysia in 2011. A very important component of any bilateral trade agreement is the issue of Rules of Origin (ROO). ROO are the criteria needed to determine the national origin of a product and is of immense importance to the domestic manufacturing industry.

The main objective of this Industry Consultation is to provide a platform to trade and industry to discuss the problems faced by them while exporting to/importing from trading partners with whom India has free trade agreements, and also the significant issue of Rules of Origin.

Officials from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and experts from Centre for WTO Studies would participate in the consultation meeting and interact with the participants.

In view of the significance of the meeting, I write to invite you for kindly participating in the aforesaid seminar and thereafter please join us for Lunch. In case you are pre-occupied, please nominate a suitable representative from your organisation to attend the programme. PARTICIPATION PROCEDURE – THERE IS NO REGISTRATION FEES.
