Overview:    At an alarming rate, medical devices are being connected to the network giving them access to and from the Internet. Now these devices are becoming a target of attack by malicious individuals, which could cripple your practice or hospital. In some cases, the medical device, such as a pace maker, which is designed to send and receive commands or data via wireless, could be exploited in a way that could kill a person if not properly secured.

At first, we will look at the background of medical device cybersecurity, why it is necessary, and why the devices are targets for cyber-attacks. Also, will look at federal regulations that are helping to ensure that the device are being designed, developed, and sold with cybersecurity in mind.

The webinar will also review the risks associated with medical devices beginning with the purchasing process through deployment and maintenance of the device. We will examine key risk management and risk analysis techniques to help detect risks, threats, and vulnerabilities.

We will also look at ways to remediate and secure your devices. Finally, we will examine what you should be monitoring to know a new vulnerability exists.

Why should you Attend: Do you have medical devices used in your practice or hospital? Did you even realize that many of these devices function like a computer and could contain vulnerabilities, if exploited, could infect the rest of your network taking you offline? Other times protected health information is stored on the device that just sits exposed for anyone to see which could lead to identity theft.

The webinar is designed to review how medical devices are vulnerable to exploitation, breaches, and could even affect a patient's life depending on the device. If you are an end user, provider, nurse, tech, or in the information technology group, it is critical to understand the risks with having medical devices on the network, and understand what you need to do to secure them.
