About The Event

In compliance with the IRCA, all U.S. employers must verify the identity and employment eligibility of all new employees (both citizen and noncitizen) hired after November 6, 1986. This requirement is satisfied by having new employees and their employer complete Form I-9.

Why Should You Attend:
The Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 (IRCA) imposes civil and criminal fines penalties for employment of illegal aliens. Individuals responsible for IRCA compliance can be held personally liable. IRCA also prohibits discrimination on the basis of citizenship or national origin. Employers who improperly complete Form I-9’s (paperwork violations) are subject to monetary fines.

Who Will Benefit:
This course will prove beneficial for those responsible in assisting new hires with their new-hire paperwork, including Form I-9, which is a requirement of federal law, such as:
Hiring managers
Human resources professionals
Compliance staff

Instructor Profile:
Jim Watson is an accomplished customer-focused business partner with more than 20 years of comprehensive human resources generalist experience in union and non-union environments, providing leadership and advice to business leaders and managers on the people-related matters impacting their operations.
